This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit https://edith.quinsy.app or use our free PDF tools in your browser.
1. What the Edith website provides
The Edith website offers:
- product information about Edith PDF for Chrome
- pricing and links to purchase a lifetime license
- free PDF tools (merge, reorder, rotate, delete pages, images to PDF, PDF to images, page numbers) that run entirely in your browser
2. Free web tools — your files stay local
Our free PDF tools process files entirely in your browser using JavaScript. When you use these tools:
- your PDF or image files are not uploaded to Edith servers for processing
- we do not receive document content, filenames, or page content from these tools
- processed files are downloaded directly to your device
- free tools do not call Edith licensing, telemetry, or legal-consent APIs
- we do not use cookies, LocalStorage, or IndexedDB to store your PDF or image files for these tools — processing happens in browser memory during your session only
You should still protect your device and browser, because anyone with access to your computer may access files you download.
3. Information we may process on our servers
When you interact with https://edith.quinsy.app, we may process limited data:
3.1 Hosting and abuse prevention
Our site is hosted on Vercel. Like most websites, hosting providers may process technical connection data (such as IP address, user agent, and request timestamps) in server logs for reliability and security.
Our API routes apply short-lived in-memory rate limiting (approximately 10 requests per minute per IP address) to reduce abuse. Rate-limit counters are not stored as a long-term user profile.
3.2 License checkout and customer records
If you purchase an Edith PDF lifetime license from our website, checkout is handled by Lemon Squeezy (merchant of record). Payment and order data is processed under Lemon Squeezy's own privacy practices. We receive customer and licensing information needed to provision your license, which may include:
- email address
- name and billing address (as provided at checkout)
- Lemon Squeezy customer and order identifiers
- order ID and payment metadata (we do not store full card numbers)
- license key, product ID, and variant ID
- webhook payloads needed to activate and support your license
3.3 Extension-related backend services
Some backend endpoints on https://edith.quinsy.app (for example license validation, telemetry, and template delivery) are used by the Edith PDF Chrome extension, not by the free web tools. Those practices are described in the extension's in-app Privacy Policy.
4. Cookies, analytics, and third-party resources
This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies. We do not currently use Google Analytics or similar session-tracking tools on https://edith.quinsy.app. If we add analytics or consent-based cookies in the future, we will update this policy and provide appropriate notice before they take effect.
Free web tools: Our browser-based PDF tools do not set cookies for tool processing and do not persist your files in LocalStorage or IndexedDB. Files are processed in memory during your session.
Fonts and scripts: The Edith website and free tools load fonts and JavaScript libraries (including PDF.js) from our own domain — we do not load them from Google Fonts, unpkg, cdnjs, or similar third-party CDNs when you use the marketing site or free tools.
5. Data we do not collect from web tools
We do not intentionally collect from free web-tool sessions:
- PDF or image file content
- document text
- filenames you process locally
Subprocessors and service providers
For edith.quinsy.app and our free web tools, we use:
- Vercel — hosts the website and serves static assets. May process IP address, user agent, request metadata, and timestamps in server logs.
- Lemon Squeezy — processes checkout when you purchase a lifetime license (merchant of record). May process email, billing details, order ID, payment metadata, and license provisioning data.
Free web tools do not send data to a separate application database. Extension-specific backend storage (for example licensing telemetry) is described in the extension Privacy Policy.
Each subprocessor processes data only as needed to provide its service. Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy governs payment processing.
Legal bases for processing (GDPR)
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — supplying licensed software, validating access, and fulfilling purchases
- Compliance with legal obligations — tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements where applicable
- Legitimate interests — securing the product, preventing abuse, understanding aggregated feature usage, improving reliability, and operating the service
- Consent — where required for policy acceptance records or jurisdiction-specific implementations
Data retention
We retain website-related records (such as license purchase data received from Lemon Squeezy) only for as long as necessary to operate the website, satisfy legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect against abuse. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it where feasible.
International transfers
Depending on where our service providers operate, personal data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) offered by our providers.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- access your personal data
- request correction of inaccurate data
- request deletion of personal data
- object to certain processing
- request restriction of processing
- request portability of certain data
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

6. Children
The Edith website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
7. Changes
We may update this website Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date and version at the top of this page will be updated when we do.
